Richard “Dick” Dubanoski is dean of the College of Social Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is honored for his outstanding leadership, vision, energy and commitment to the university during his 23 years as dean and 20 years on the faculty.
An exceptional administrator and a dedicated professional, he is regarded as the architect and builder of the social sciences community at UH. Dubanoski steadfastly believes that a liberal education is the quintessential ingredient of an educated citizenry.
With a seemingly effortless ability, he has been an outstanding ambassador of the university and strived to enhance the relationship between it and the diverse communities it serves.
His 43 years of service to the university’s mission and the tireless integrity with which he has pursued the highest ideals of both the educator and the public servant make him a most deserving recipient.
