Ingelia White is an associate professor of botany and microbiology at . White is an advocate for student learning and a leader in curriculum development. She exposes her students to her passion and love for plants and plant biotechnology. White is dedicated, flexible, personable and always available to give students all the extra support needed. Her enthusiasm and high standards creates a positive learning experience.

In addition to teaching, White is the director of Kuhi La‘au Tropical Plant and Orchid Identification Facility, coordinator of the Tissue Culture and Plant Biotechnology Laboratory and coordinator of the Plant Biotechnology Program. White was awarded the Regents Medal for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.

The Frances Davis Award for Undergraduate Teaching recognizes dedication and demonstrated excellence as teachers of undergraduate students. It was established as a memorial to the late Frances Davis, who taught mathematics at Leeward Community College and Â鶹´«Ã½Manoa for 19 years.
