Gordon Talbo is a professor of automotive technology at Kaua‘i Community College.

With 15 years of work experience under his belt, he began his teaching career at Honolulu CC then moved to Kaua‘i CC. Having taught nearly a dozen dynamic courses such as ignition systems, engine performance and suspension and steering, his 21 years of experience as a teacher led him to become an integral aid as a program developer for automotive students.

As a grant writer he acquired new equipment, specialty tools, vehicles and training aids to build the program to industry standards. As a National Automotive Technician Education Foundation coordinator, he prepared the program for certification and documented all national standards that allowed Kaua‘i CC to become NATEF certified.

He developed new hybrid and electric vehicle courses and proposed the automotive green technology program, the first and only automotive program to teach credit courses of its kind in the Â鶹´«Ã½Community College system.

Talbo maintains multiple professional certificates and remains an essential asset for future automotive professionals.

The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students.
