Michael Paulding is an instructor in the business, legal and technology education program at Kapi‘olani Community College.

Paulding’s lectures are a mix of theory and hands-on assignments, thus encouraging students to reinforce classroom activity with personal application.

Many students comment about his clarity in explaining complex programming concepts and his willingness to go the extra mile to give every student the opportunity to succeed. “Mr. Paulding’s dedication to students is probably his most distinctive trait,” said one of his students.

Each semester, Paulding exudes the same enthusiasm and passion for teaching. He offers an extensive amount of his time outside of class to help students succeed and excel in their studies. Besides the 100-percent effort in the classroom and the many extended office hours, Paulding also hosts online review sessions every Sunday to assist and prepare students for Microsoft programming certificates.

His commitment to teaching touches every student in a positive and proactive manner.

The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students.
