The Center for Biographical Research presents: / “Retrospective on Mark Takai’s Legacy”/ Jenny Duhaylonsod Delos Santos / The author of Mark Takai’s Legacy, Jenny Duhaylonsod Santos will discuss the life of Mark Takai, former Hawaii State Representative and U.S. Congressman, who lived from July 1, 1967 to July 20, 2016. Though he left us at just 49, he made a lasting impact, helping thousands—especially the people of Hawai’i and those who served in the military.This book delves into the issues and bills Takai championed, as well as his dedication to the schools he attended: Pearl City High School and the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. It also reveals many little-known personal stories that showcase his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others.The book concludes with heartfelt reflections from those whose lives he touched, offering a final tribute to a leader who left too soon but made a difference that will never be forgotten. / Jenny Duhaylonsod Delos Santos worked as an editorial clerk for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser for nearly 17 years. Two decades ago, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she was also a reporter for the student newspaper, Ka Leo. In 1999, she was recognized as the Best News Reporter. Delos Santos is currently an author, a domestic violence advocate, and a Crisis Intervention Team speaker.
