Sciences and the Sacred Seminar Series
April 27, 6:00pm - 7:30pmMānoa Campus, 鶹ýManoa
We are re-igniting the Sciences and the Sacred Seminar Series this semester! This semester, we will focus on Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Knowledge Stewardship and will again be hosted by the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant Ulana ʻIke Center of Excellence and the Biocultural Initiative of the Pacific. Over the course of four seminars, we will center conversations with Indigenous practitioners from continental and oceanic spaces in a knowledge-sharing exchange to advance kanaka ʻōiwi (Native Hawaiian) efforts towards data sovereignty. It is our hope that creating dialogue between kanaka ʻōiwi, allies and other Indigenous communities will lay the groundwork for collaborative partnerships within Hawaiʻi that are grounded in Indigenous data sovereignty principles. We hope that you will register to attend and also help spread the word about the upcoming virtual Series. Our second seminar on April 27 will feature Noa Emmett Aluli, M.D., Desi Small-Rodrigues, PhD, and Keolu Fox, Phd focusing on Mauliola: Personal Health Information. How do we ensure that the corporeal legacy of our ancestors continues to thrive for our people? See the flyer or visit sciencesandthesacred.com for more information and registration details.
