Dr. Randall Akee Chair, American Indian Studies Interdepartmental Program & Associate Professor of Public Policy University of California, Los Angeles Counting the Uncounted: Interdisciplinary Social Science Research and Insights for Indigenous Peoples Dr. Akee will give a brief glimpse at some recent research focusing on Indigenous Peoples in the US, Canada and Australia from economists and other social scientists. He will focus on how these types of studies inform our knowledge of the relative benefits of programs and policies have on Indigenous Peoples. He will also discuss how these insights are particularly useful for Native Hawaiians and conclude with some discussion of topics for which we have very little research and that we should pursue. Moderated by Dr. Ty Kāwika Tengan, Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies and Anthropology.
