Honoring the legacy of Alice Ball

The CTAHR Master Gardeners group will host a booth honoring Instructor Alice Ball at the Chaulmoogra Tree planted in her honor in the 1930’s behind Bachman Hall.
There will be information on Alice Ball's remarkable but tragically short career provided along with information linking her work with the Kalaupapa Settlement.
The Master Gardener group has been tending the Chaulmoogra Tree, which was the focus of Alice Ball’s research into Hansen’s Disease, with the support of the Â鶹´«Ã½Campus Arboretum which includes the Â鶹´«Ã½grounds and landscaping crew, in an effort to harvest seeds to propagate specimens for Kalaupapa National Historical Park.
