Cody Anderson: Spending Time

"Spending Time" is a demonstration of applied learning. Cody Anderson displays the outcomes of three acts of prolonged observation, respectively of a window view, a young bonsai tree, and a coconut palm frond. Anderson’s durational drawing and video works attempt to gain a sense of the world through careful attention to pace and scale.

Cody Anderson believes that art already exists all around us. His multimedia work is thus focused on mindfulness, observation, and documentation. His practice is often excessively tedious in order to amplify the absurdity and futility of his own efforts. Cody completed his BFA at the University of Wyoming in 2016. He currently lives and works in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, where he is pursuing an MFA at the University of Hawai‘i at M?noa.
