The word "Mฤlama" means to protect, preserve, and nurture in Hawaiian, perfectly aligning with the company's mission to share the amazing health and wellness benefits of superfood mushrooms. Ben started Mฤlama Mushrooms in 2015, growing mushrooms in a lava-formed cave on the Kona island. With a background in agriculture and environmental science, he's passionate about bringing the incredible benefits of functional mushrooms into everyone's daily wellness routines. Ben also founded the Hawaii Fungi Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cataloging rare and native Hawaiian mushrooms at risk due to climate change and invasive species.
