A researcher in Manoa’s Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, Paul Lucey bridges many disciplines in his work, from the engineering task of developing new instruments to the scientific world of data analysis.
He publishes extensively in prestigious journals, such as Science, and he has served on many national review and advisory committees.
Lucey is one of the major players in the construction of imaging spectrometers to fly on aircraft, spacecraft and the International Space Station. One of his recent notable successes is the development of a highly innovative camera that will be used on the International Space Station to map the global distribution of coral reefs.
