Exporting Virtue: China’s international Human Rights Activism

China’s Efforts to export its authoritarian human rights model to the world operates alongside and reinforces, the spread of authoritarianism internationally. Pittman Potter’s new book examines the says in which the Peoples Republic of China under the leadership of President Xi Jinping has attempted to revise international human rights standards to accommodate its interests. It offers case studies on political expression, foreign economic relations, and trade policy. Based on results of multi-year research project, the book links observations of China’s efforts to export its human rights policies and practice with suggestions for policy responses, This talk will summarize the contents of the book and invite questions and discussion.
