Matthew Savage, a graduate teaching assistant in speech has a clear passion for teaching in the college classroom, and is the top student in the department’s graduate program and was recognized as the department’s Outstanding Graduate Student in Speech. He has taught effective public speaking, served as TA for research method and a lecturer for personal and public speech.
A student observed, “Students respect him for his knowledge of communication principles and his ability to present information in an understandable and interesting way.”
The Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching recognizes dedication and demonstrated excellence as teachers of undergraduate students. It was established as a memorial to the late Frances Davis, who taught mathematics at Leeward Community College and Â鶹´«Ã½Manoa for 19 years.
